Standing in the middle
Diversity is one of the great things that spices up the world and makes it and the creatures on it special. But while it enriches the world of the living, diversity can easily become a headache to anyone remotely connected to technology. When it comes to standards the IT industry is virtually a bottomless pit from which everyone draws something new and exciting and promotes it as being the ‘next big thing’. One territory that has been plagued by multiple standards is that of portable storage. Memory cards are growing in popularity as more and more devices rely on them for (mass) storage but unfortunately that didn’t help the customer as there are a large number of incompatible standards, each backed up by a manufacturer.
Coming to rescue of the confused customer Akasa has released the Combo Card Reader. The name might not suggest a device of epic scale but it promises to do what it says and that’s read (and write) on a large number of memory cards. To find out whether Akasa’s small and black reader can also be skillful and useful step forward and check out the following pages.
