Throw away the key
Returning from the unknown to review yet another USB flash drive may be equally exciting and boring. Exciting because manufacturers come up with something more appealing, faster, tougher but also boring because most drives tend to not innovate to such an extend to really earn the ‘new’ factor. Luckily, there is always something special announced, one new release that wants to take its own path and that’s the case of flashy drive that we’ll review here, today, the Corsair Padlock.
There are a lot of things that can compromise the data found on a flash drive and more or less successfully Corsair managed to address them with the Flash Voyager and Survivor series. But those mostly focus on resistance to the elements and the crazy lifestyle of the 21st century and not on the human element which most of the times is the weakest link in data protection. To lower the threat of “human error” Corsair has released the Padlock, a new and very interesting arrival in Techconnect’s EE labs. It isn’t rugged and it doesn’t have a metal casing but when it comes to data protection it may be more efficient than its predecessors and this through a quite common and simple method. To find out what that is and how it makes the Padlock the one true USB-connected data ATM turn the page and follow the key words.
