Sound of silence
Noctua, in translation the “little owl”, is somewhat of an interesting sighting in an IT world dominated by either American or Asian companies. Based in Austria, the company has chosen itself a name that has a history of its own and suggests nothing but great things. Fortunately for supporters of the Old Continent and PC enthusiasts in general, Noctua has managed to harness some of the essence of the nocturne predatory bird and is now well-established as a provider of efficient and low-noise cooling solutions. One segment of Noctua’s rather slim product line-up includes fans of common shapes and sizes with the latest 120mm model released being the NF-P12.
The new fan has now made a surprise visit to Techconnect’s EE Labs asking to have a go through the obstacle course. Naturally, such a request cannot be denied, especially since the NF-P12 comes with a significant change in blade design that is not only eye-catching but also promises improved performance with minimal impact to the overall noise output. Still, one thing the IT industry is full of is promise so it’s time turn into natural born skeptics yet again and prepare for a new review. Nurse, prep the patient, please.
