Keep rollin'

Evolution is known to be a process that takes up to millions of years. Fortunately enough, this unwritten rule doesn’t apply to the world of technology and least of all to a market segment as volatile as that of NAND memory. Between solid state drives and flash/thumb/pen drives, NAND has become a word to remember, and something any company wants to have in its product offer. The OCZ Technology Group's journey into the land of NAND begun just under three years ago with the release of the Rally flash drive, and today, the company can brag about having a substantial drive line-up which includes the Rally2, ATV, ATV Turbo, VBoost, Diesel and Spyder drives, plus the latest arrival in Techconnect's EE Labs and the star of this article, the Rally2 Turbo.

As recent history has shown, with the second generation Rally drives OCZ made it all the way up to 32GB in terms of storage space but, as evolution and the a very competitive market demanded, new models, with higher transfer speeds were required and that is basically the evolution path that has led to the arrival of the Rally2 Turbo. 'Borrowing' a business model that has also been used for Corsair's Voyagers and the ATV series, the Rally2 Turbo is supposed to be the peak of the Rally2 family and the following pages are set to determine whether or not this is fact or fiction. Those who want to get straight to the action-packed yet pretty and pure performance charts of the Raly2 Turbo are invited to jump to page three while readers into tech foreplay can step through door number two.
