There’s no denying it now - Nvidia’s second generation Big Bang is here and while it isn't as 'destructive' as its predecessor, it does come with new features like the long-awaited multi-monitor support for SLI setups. With the dust from these latest green explosions slowly dispersing, the time has become right for a new driver comparison, a little 'friendly' family feud for which four GeForce drivers have been rounded up.
Going head-to-head today are drivers from both before and the actual Big Bang II era - the GeForce 178.24, which is the last WHQL release of the 178 series, the GeForce 180.43 official beta, the WHQL-certified GeForce 180.48 and the latest leaked driver available, the GeForce 180.70 beta. As in previous comparisons we’ll be looking at the performance of the drivers and determine which one is the best at getting the most out of your graphics cards. During testing several DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 games as well as a few synthetic benchmarks will be fired up multiple times so as to get clean and consistent results and thus, a correct evaluation of the drivers. Before getting to actual numbers though, let's take a look over the hardware and software used with the quarrelling quarter. Next stop, Page 2.
