The new shiny creation from Steve's Fruity Factory, the iPhone has taken the smartphone market by storm and in the third quarter of this year and it has already surpassed major names like Microsoft and Symbian in the US. Despite it being an AT&T exclusive and very restrictive the iPhone has managed to secure itself a 27% share of the US smartphone market meaning that it has already on second place behind RIM Blackberry and in front of Microsoft Mobile devices and Symbian-powered handhelds.
In Q4 the iPhone's US share is likely to go up still. We here on the Old Continent don't give up on Symbian so fast.
