The original Big Blue, IBM has just signed an agreement regarding the acquisition of FilesX, a company that specializes in continuous data protection and application recovery software for enterprises and remote/branch offices. FilesX's enterprise-level continuous data protection solutions are said to complement IBM's file-based software, Tivoli Continuous Data Protection for Files.

"The FilesX acquisition would complement IBM’s vision of enterprise data protection by adding critical capabilities for remote offices, delivering continuous data protection for applications and servers, and supporting business user needs with nearly instantaneous recovery of data," said Al Zollar, general manager, Tivoli software, IBM.

The acquisition deal is expected to close very soon. As expected, the financial details have not been disclosed.
