The most significant propaganda player for netbooks, Asustek didn't have anything good to report about the Eee PC's performance this year as the unit shipment forecast for the first six months has not been met. The Taiwanese company has delivered 1.7 million Eee PCs in the first half of this year and that's some 300,000 units short of the 2 million expected initially.
Apparently, everything from component (Atom CPUs, batteries) shortages from the current state of the global economy are to blame but that hasn't convinced Asus to lower its shipment goal for 2008 which remains at (over) 5 million.
