Yesterday, some 18 months later months late, Microsoft launched the Windows Vista Compatibility Center, a website dedicated to all hardware and software that works with the DirectX 10-exclusive OS (operating system). Available
here and currently in beta stage, the website contains a long list of products and information about their compatibility with Windows Vista.
The Compatibility Center is likely trying to offer potential Vista users a reassurance that their components, peripherals, applications, games etc will work with the OS previously known as Longhorn, which should be one step in Microsoft's new campaign to make Vista lovable and upgrade-worthy in the eyes of the people.
The compatibility site provides one of four 'ratings' - Not Compatible, Status Unknown, Compatible and Compatible with Action Recommended, for each product listed and includes links to required software updates and drivers. For more info feel free to check out the
website and remember that Windows 7 is at last 18 months away.
