With every obstacle out of its way Intel is gearing up to release the first quad-core processor specifically designed for mobile platforms. As recently confirmed, the mobile quad-core will be officially introduced next month and it will be receive the Core 2 Duo Extreme branding.
Manufactured using the 45nm node, the QX9300 will feature a frequency of 2.53 GHz, a 1066 FSB (front side bus), 12MB of L2 cache and a TDP of 45W. Unfortunately, those who want to be 'early adopters' and get a laptop powered by the QX9300 will have to pay quite a premium as the upcoming CPU costs about the same as the QX9770 - $1390.
