HD-DVD promoter, Toshiba's Storage Device Division has announced that it has built a new slim and sexy HD-DVD rewritable drive for notebooks. Nicknamed SD-L912A, the drive can handle reading and writing everything except Blu-Ray discs and brings high-definition recording to mobile PCs.

The SD-L912A features the ancient ATAPI interface but it does make it up to us with its weight of just 170g and the large 8 MB buffer that hasn't been seen in desktop drives since the good old days of Plextor.

The full specs of the new SD-L912A are just below.

The drive is RoHS compliant and will begin shipping in July (2007). Of course, those who want to see if sooner can visit Toshiba's Computex booth (#B1234) and sneak a peek.
