When AMD will release its high and mighty low-powered RD790 aka 790FX chipset next month manufacturers will certainly want to advertise their creations and deemed them as quad Crossfire (Double-Crossfire) ready by putting four PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots. But, not everyone wants to tick that option and one example is the Lan Party starter, DFI. Both 790FX boards built by DFI, the LP UT 790FX-M2R, seen below and the UT 790FX-M2RV, which is basically the same thing bundled with a VoIP card, will ave 'only' three PCIe x16 slots thus supporting only tri-Crossfire.
Design wise, the boards are not about to disappoint, (expect maybe the center screw) and will have a pretty decent and relatively slim cooling system that interconnects the RD790 and the SB600 southbridge, six SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, two UATA connector and four DDR2 slots supporting memory at 800 MHz (although we suspect 1066 to be also supported). In addition, both motherboards will feature two Gigabit Ethernet ports and 7.1 channel audio. The two Quad-Crossfire-less motherboards are set to be released next month and will cost just under €200.
