Quickly after Asus
announced a AM2+-ready trio, Gigabyte has jumped in and updated its website with three new motherboards, the AMD 790FX-powered GA-MA790FX-DQ6 and GA-MA790FX-DS5 and the 790X-boasting GA-MA790X-DS4. The three boards will represent the mid- to high-end offer and all will feature support for both older AM2 Athlon CPUs and the upcoming dual, triple and quad-core Phenoms.
The most expensive motherboard, the GA-MA790FX-DQ6 will feature a decently-sized copper cooling system (of course it has heatpipes), HyperTransport 3.0 support, four DDR2-1066 slots, two PCIe 2.0 x16 and two x8 slots ready for Quad-Crossfire setups, 7.1 channel audio, six SATA 3.0 Gbps connectors, six USB 2.0 ports and one Gigabit Ethernet port.

The GA-MA790FX-DS5 is similar to the DQ6 but it will have a cut-down cooling system and will 'only' come with two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots. The 790X-powered GA-MA790X-DS4 will lack any heatpipes (joy of joys?) and will have one PCIe 2.0 X16 slot and one x8 slot and will be equipped with four SATA port. All three motherboards are expected to be released in less than two weeks and will be in stores on launch day (November 19). For more info on Gigabyte's boards visit
