The Green mania that is sweeping the nations has now lead to MSI bringing forward an interesting (but not new) concept for the cooling of motherboard chips. The ECO alternative proposed by MSI utilizes a stirling engine cooler made in collaboration with by Taiwan-based Polo-Tech. This cooler will basically harvest the power from the heat dissipated by the chip in order to push one piston that, in term helps turn an active fan which cools the chip itself.

The stirling engine cooler is set to be showcased at CeBIT and, as you might have guessed, is supposed to not need any external power in order to work - just add heat. This new ECO project is still work in progress though so don't expect to have a motherboard with such a cooler too soon. But the snow ball has been let loose.
