Following a quite long gestation period Asus' solution to slow IGPs found in most laptops, the XG Station is gearing up for a release. As reported just last week, the XG Station will be a big box of graphics boasting a GeForce 8600 GT with 256MB of RAM. Featuring a PCI-Express x1 interface, the XG Station will offer laptop owners an alternative to integrated graphics with the device claimed to be some 6.7 times more powerful than Intel's 965GM IGP.

Equipped with two DVI ports, one TV-Out and even two USB 2.0 connectors, the XG Station is set to cost approximately 349 Euro on the Old Continent. Now we just need it to reach the stores.
