Good news from Santa Clara today as Nvidia has confirmed that Intel X58-powered motherboards both with and without the NF200 SLI chip will be able to offer SLI support. Nvidia's multi-GPU solution was already announced to work with boards that include one or two NF200s but since motherboard manufacturers weren't too happy with that solution, Nvidia decided that "regular" X58 offers deserve to have both CrossFire and SLI support.
Non-NF200 boards will still require to be SLI certified and that might add a little (hopefully just a little) to the overall price tag but that will enable 2-way, 3-way and quad-SLI configurations. Apparently, X58 motherboards without SLI certification simply won't have multi-GPU capabilities enabled via drivers so that probably means we'll have SLI-hacked drivers coming out in the future. Until then though, let all Nvidia fanboys rejoice and brag with the extended Bloomfield support. Moving on.
