The 360 people-lighter Nvidia Corporation is reported to be planning a name overhaul for Q4 that will see to the drop of the 8x00 and 9x00 names from its line-up. Apparently, on October 15 the Green Graphics Goblin will be launching a few new cards and the plan is to introduce the new naming scheme on that day too.

Nvidia's idea is to rename all its 55nm GPUs to GTxx0 and have the marketing names of the actual cards switched so as to be in-line with the Geforce GTX 200 series. The result would be something like GTX 200 (uber-high-end), GT 200 (high-end), GS 200 (mid-range) and G 200 (low-end). That should be easily to remember.
