While at CES 2009, Asus provided a not so small glimpse at a new Eee PC model which featured quite a few hardware updates. Leaving aside the fact that it's a bit more stylish that the current 1000 series, the 1004DN can be equipped with an optical drive (SATA DVD writer) a first for the Eee PC line-up, it also features new Intel-made silicon, the GN40 chipset and the Aton N280. Intel is currently selling the N270 so we can assume, the N280 is a higher-clocked (1.86 GHz maybe) single-core 45nm Atom.
No word on when the Eee PC 1004DN will arrive but apparently, it's a Europe-specific model so we'll just have to keep an eye out for it.
