Previously expected to debut in the first part of 2H, Pine Trail-M, Intel's next-gen netbook platform, is now looking at a late arrival is the latest info available suggests a release either in the second part of Q4 or early Q1. Pine Trail-M makes use of a dual-chip solution, as opposed to the three-chip one used on current netbooks and it circles around the Pineview processor which will start off at 1.6 GHz, have a FSB of 667 MHz, just like the Atom N280, but will integrate a DDR2 memory controller and GMA 950 graphics core clocked at 200 MHz.
Pine Trail-M is set to consume a bit less than the current platform so while it won't bring much in terms of performance, it will enable the making of netbooks with an even longer battery life.
