Keeping flashy releases into high gear, OCZ is preparing the launch of a new performance-oriented solid stated drive, the Summit. Coming in a 2.5-inch form factor, the SSD has a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, makes use of MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash memory and the newest Samsung controller, and is planned for a late April release.

The Summit will be available in 30, 60, 120 and 250GB capacities, with the firs two models boasting 32MB of buffer memory, while the others feature 64MB. The prices of the upcoming drives have not been revealed, but they are expected to be a bit higher that those of the Vertex models which go from about $128 to $775.
