While the bulk of the netbook market has embraced hard drives, at least for the time being, OCZ has decided to serve up a little storage something for those with SSD-equipped Mini notebooks. Aimed at replacing the 'default' flash-based storage solutions of various netbook models, OCZ's new Mini PCI-Express SSDs come in 16 and 32GB capacities, and, either with a SATA or PATA interface, the former providing read and write speeds of up to 110 and 51 MB/s, while the latter tops 45 and 35 MB/s respectively.
"We have developed this small form factor SSD product to ensure we are covering as many end-user solid state storage needs as possible," commented Ryan Edwards, Director of Product Management at the OCZ technology Group. "With the addition of the Mini PCI-Express series to our SSD line-up, OCZ is enabling those owners of compatible UMPC and Netbook solutions to experience the quieter, cooler, and more durable alternative to traditional notebook hard drives."
Yet unpriced, the four Mini PCI-Express SSDs are set to be offered with a two-year warranty.
