Supermicro has just announced the addition of some low-power, Atom-equipped server solutions to its product portfolio. Said to be great as a cost-effective storage and network appliance or print and email server, the X7SLA-L platform supports the 1.6 GHz single-core Atom 230 and dual-core 330 processors, can be loaded with up to four SATA drivers in RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10, boasts 2GB of memory and GMA 950 graphics, single/dual Gigabit Ethernet, and no less than seven USB 2.0 headers.
"Bringing the low-power consumption advantages of Atom processors to the server appliance market empowers our customers with energy-saving, quiet solutions that provide flexible expansion and storage features previously unattainable with Atom solutions," said Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro.
In addition to the X7SLA-L offer, Supermicro also introduced the Atom-powered 5015A and 5035A SuperServers. The 5015A is a fanless ten pound machine with two hot swap bays, while the 5035A has four drive bays, a 300W 80Plus Bronze certified power supply and enough room for three add-in cards.
