OCZ apparently just can't get enough of the Vertex name as after the 'regular' Vertex, the Mac Edition, and Vertex EX, it is preparing yet another solid state drive family bearing that brand. The Vertex Turbo is set to feature hand picked NAND flash memory chips and controllers and deliver about 10% better performance than the normal Vertex, for a 10% price premium that is.

The Vertex Turbo drives have a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, 64MB of cache, and are supposed to offer read and write speeds of up to 278 and 213 MB/s. The new SSDs will likely be available in 30, 60, 120 and 250GB capacities and are expected to start shipping in the next few weeks. Their prices tags should go from about $150 to $800.
