After getting a good batch of praises, Intel's recently-released 80 and 160GB X25-M G2 solid state drives can now face some criticism, as they apparently have a problem with BIOS passwords. As
reported, the firmware with which the G2 drives are shipping (02G2) has a bug which could make the SSDs inoperable if a BIOS password is set, removed, or changed.
Intel advises everyone getting a G2 to not create/delete/alter BIOS passwords, at least not until the drive is flashed with an updated firmware that fixes the problem. A new firmware is in the works and is expected to become available soon.
