Hoping that you took that pinch of salt we'll go on to talk about a new LGA775 sighting, a lower-end quad-core that goes by the name Core 2 Quad Q7600. Seen in the picture below, this unannounced but easy to find processor is made on 45nm technology, has a stock frequency of 2.7 GHz, a FSB of 800 MHz and just 2MB of L2 cache, half that of the Q8000 series models.

Currently Intel offers the 2.66 GHz Q8400 for $163 so, if really real, the Q7600 may just go under the $150 mark to give AMD's Phenom X3s a run for their money. Of course, we'd rather like to see the Q8400 get cheaper still but that's just us.
