Acer has now introduced its first laptop to feature a multi-touch screen, something that will come in handy as Windows 7 rolls out with its touch-enables features and apps. Dubbed Aspire 5738PG, the laptop has a 15.6-inch (1366x768) LED-backlit touchscreen, a multi-gesture touchpad, a 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo T6600 processor, 4GB of RAM, a Radeon HD 4570 512MB graphics card, a 320GB hard drive and an 8x DVD writer.
"Customers will experience an incredible level of flexibility and control in the multi-touch screen interface, as it frees them to interact with their digital world in a way that is familiar yet also new and exciting," said Ray Sawall, senior manager of product marketing for Acer America. "The Acer Aspire 5738PG's multi-touch experience takes advantage of the many new capabilities in Windows 7 and provides incredibly powerful first-rate technology such as ATI Radeon graphics and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor."
The new Aspire model runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, provides WiFi and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, has a built-in webcam, a HDMI output and a 6-cell battery.
Acer will be shipping the Aspire 5738PG in the US on October 22nd and ask $800 per unit.
