Taiwanese manufacturer Gigabyte is hard at work on an updated version of the GA-P55-UD4 P55-powered motherboard which will feature both SATA 6.0 Gbps and USB 3.0 ports. Named GA-P55A-UD4, the tweaked board has support for LGA 1156 Core i5/i7 processors, a 12+2 phase power design (the P55-UD4 has 8+2), four DDR3 memory slots, two PCI-Express x16 slots for SLI or CrossFireX setups, plus two SATA 6.0 Gbps ports 'powered' by a Marvell chip, and two USB 3.0 connectors enabled by a NEC chip.

Other than those mentioned, Gigabyte's product has six SATA 3.0 Gbps and two eSATA ports, 7.1 channel audio, a FireWire connector, Gigabit Ethernet and Dual BIOS.

The GA-P55A-UD4 will become available in November or December and is set to co-exist with the non-A model as it will be priced higher. How much higher, that's yet to be confirmed.
