Also announced today are some hot new iMacs which come with LED-backlit 21.5-inch and 27-inch Full HD panels, are powered by Intel processors and start at $1,199. The machines are bundled with a wireless keyboard and the new Magic Mouse, are loaded with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and the iLife suite and are shipping (Core 2 models) or going to ship in November (Core i5 system).

The cheapest iMac of the new lot, which goes for $1,199 has a 21.5-inch (1920x1080) screen, a 3.0 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 4GB of RAM, GeForce 9400M integrated graphics, a 500GB HDD and a 8x SuperDrive, while the next model up, priced at $1,499 has pretty much the same specs but packs a 1TB hard drive and a Radeon HD 4670 discrete graphics card.

The $1,699 27-inch (2560x1440) iMac has the same hardware as its $1,499 little brother, while the high-end $1,999 system has the 27-inch screen, a 2.66 GHz Core i5 750 CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 1TB HDD, an 8x SuperDrive and a Radeon HD 4850 with 512MB of memory.
