EVGA before it, graphics card maker VisionTek has signed a deal with Bigfoot Networks that enables it to sell the Killer Xeno Pro Gaming Network Card. Equipped with a 400 MHz-clocked NPU (network processing unit), the card offloads all network processing and prioritizes game networking operations so that your online gaming experience is smooth and with high frame rates.
"VisionTek and Bigfoot Networks are in a position to change the PC gaming experience and innovate the hardware upgrade market, just like graphics cards did 15 years ago," said Mark Bilson, VP of Sales for VisionTek. "VisionTek saw the demand for a dedicated GPU take off as 3D environments became more complex. We see the same demand growing as a result of online bottlenecks on the client side and the need for a dedicated NPU."
The Killer Xeno Pro also features a PCIe x1 interface, 128MB of clocked at 266 MHz, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and provides hardware-accelerated voice chat and security.
Currently, EVGA's Killer Xeno Pro card is priced at $100 so it's probable that VisionTek's version will cost about the same when in becomes available, in the near future.
