Maingear has today announced SHIFT, a high-end PC that combines style with power and is claimed to "reshape the current landscape of high performance computing." Coming in an all-black aluminum/steel chassis with a design providing vertical heat dissipation, the new system can be equipped with either a X58 or P55 motherboard, a Core i7 (860/870/920/960/975 EE) processor, up to 12GB of RAM, up to a 8TB HDD setup or an SSD RAID configuration, up to two GeForce GTX 295 in Quad SLI or two Radeon HD 5870 in CrossFireX, and two optical drives.

"The SHIFT bucks the trend of plastic, bloated, commodity PCs. It's a statement of our commitment to performance, reliability, and support." said Wallace Santos, CEO and Founder of Maingear. "Featuring vertical airflow, all the cooling necessary for today's high performance, and backed by the best technical support team in the business, Maingear is committed to maintaining our lead in the market. The SHIFT Personal Supercomputer is positioned to take advantage of all the next generation technology in GPGPU computing to greatly enhance the customer experience."

Maingear's personal supercomputer can also pack a 750W/1kW/1.2kW power supply, an ATI TV Wonder 650 HD HDTV tuner, an Auzentech X-Fi Forte 7.1 audio card, an EVGA Killer Xeno Pro network card, and runs Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate)

SHIFT is backed by a three-year warranty and is now available at a starting price of $2,199 (P55) / $2,599 (X58).
