Still troubled mobile joint venture Sony Ericsson has today taken the veil off the XPERIA X10, its first Android-loaded smartphone. Powered by the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 chipset, the X10 is loaded with Android 1.6, has quad-band GSM and HSDPA support, and features a 4-inch (854x480) capacitive touchscreen, an 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, built-in GPS and an accelerometer.

"The XPERIA X10 and the family of phones launching in the first half of 2010 underpin our commitment to an open and multi-platform strategy that maximises choice for the consumer and delivers the best possible consumer experience," said Bert Nordberg, President, Sony Ericsson. "The reaction from our global operator partners to the XPERIA X10 has been extremely positive and we will be rolling out across the world including Japan from the first half of 2010."

The phone has 1GB of internal memory and a microSD slot (8GB card included), a 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, and will be available in two colors - Sensuous Black and Luster White. Sony Ericsson will release the XPERIA X10 in Q1 2010.
