Unveiled a month ago, Plextor's speedy PX-B940SA internal Blu-Ray burner has started shipping and is reaching stores bearing a price tag saying '$280'. The drive has a SATA interface, 4MB of buffer memory, and delivers maximum write speeds of 12x for BD-R SL/DL, 6x for BD-R LtH, 2x for BD-RE SL/DL, 16x for DVD-R/+R, 8x for DVD-R/+R DL and DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM, 40x for CD-R and 24x for CD-RW.

"Blu-ray is fast-becoming the standard for quality movie playback, and we're taking that to the next level with the addition of BD writing capabilities," said Christine Hsing, Marketing Manager at Plextor. "Plextor has always been a leader in the optical market and we're proud to offer our users a simple, all-in-one Blu-ray solution."

The PX-B940SA comes bundled with CyberLink's BD Suite software package.
