Intel's plan to drop the Q6600's price to just $266 thus making it accessible to more people was centered around July 22 but it seems that a few online stores got ahead of themselves (in a good way) and dropped the price of the quad-core to as low as $300.

Still bearing an official price tag of $530, the quad-core can now be found at Frys.com for $299.99 and can also be bought for a tad under 300 euro from German stores like DriveCity.de and HPM-Computer.de. The Q6600 has four cores running at 2.4 GHz, 8 MB of L2 cache and features a 1066 MHz FSB.
