Although comfortably-ahead of its competition, Intel took its time at Games Convention (GC) 07 Press Day and unveiled the latest and greatest Core 2 Extreme mobile CPU, the X7900.

Showcased at the Intel booth, the X7900 will soon be coming out to replace the X7800 and bring even more computing power for notebooks. Built on 65nm, the X7900 features a 800MHz FSB, 4MB f L2 cache and is clocked at 2.8GHz. With a TDP of only 44W and an unlocked multiplier, the new chip will certainly have some overclocking headroom.

The first laptops powered by the X7900 are expected to hit the stores in the next four weeks.
