One of Windows Vista's pluses (not Extras) is the ReadyBoost technology which, at least in theory, can give the operating system a boost by enabling the use of external memory (like flash drives) so store frequently used files for quick and easy access. As DirectX 10, the ReadyBoost feature is Vista-exclusive, at least under the form Microsoft wants to 'sell' it. Luckily for us XP users Microsoft isn't the only one fiddling with this specific technology and now, another company is ready to bring something similar to market.

MDO's (Moscow Development Office) alternative to Microsoft's ReadyBoost is called eBoostr, program that has now entered a closed beta stage. eBoostr allows (almost) anyone to use an additional drive (flash memory or hard disk) as another layer of performance-boosting cache for Windows XP. By using the program the booting of your OS and applications startup get much faster thanks to the smart cashing mechanism.

eBoostr's main features include:

- Supports both USB and non-USB removable media devices, as well as additional hard disks
