AMD's move towards bigger and better things targets the use of more than two graphics cards to boost performance in games and benchmarks but, although it has been talking about CrossFireX (when X>2) the driver to enable such a setup hasn't been released. Initially it has been rumored that the CrossFireX driver would be released as soon as January but as it now seems March is the current deadline.

AMD still needs to go through one more driver release - Catalyst 8.2 before having CrossFireX ready but the good thing is that Catalyst 8.3 which will arrive in mid-March will be 'The One'. With Catalyst 8.3 dual Radeon HD 3870 X2 setups will finally become a reality and it should scale pretty well and blow the GeForce 9800 GX2 (no Quad-SLI for this one, at least not at first) out of the water, performance wise. Not long now.
