Futuremark has barely released its latest benchmarking tool
3DMark Vantage and already fans of Conspiracy Theory (BEd: That was a good movie.) are debating the lack of DirectX 10.1 support. As you might know, AMD has a full line-up (from the Radeon HD 3450 to the 3870 X2) of discrete cards with support for the updated API while Nvidia is still playing the Shader Model 4.0 card but with Vantage, the chips from both companies are going through the same pixel-punching tasks. Still, the inclusion of DX 10.1 support would have been nice so Futuremark was left with a question that needed answering - why only 10.0?
As answered by Jukka Makinen, DirectX 10.1 become available rather late in the development process and that couldn't ensure proper testing before use within 3DMark Vantage's tests. That's reasonable enough but we have to say, a 'Special Edition' of Vantage would be good too. We can wait.
