A new report from Jon Peddie Research regarding the global graphics market has just been released and it shows that in VIA was the most "active" player in Q1. Reaching 94.88 million units, the graphics market in Q1 went down by 5.59% compared to Q4 of 2007 and it didn't see any major change in the performance of the three major competitors - Intel, Nvidia and AMD. Both Intel and Nvidia went down in market share on-quarter but the changes were rather minimal - from 43.50% to 42.70% for Intel and from 33.60% to 32.70% for Nvidia.
AMD managed to go up in share, from 18.30% in Q4 to 18.60% in Q1 while VIA and its Se Graphics division managed to jump from 2.5% to 4.10% in the same time frame.
As predicted by Jon Peddie Research, Q2 will continue to see small movements from the major players in the market with nobody being expected to see any major gains due to the lack of new releases. Of course, Nvidia released the GeForce 9800 GTX on April 1st but apparently, that won't count for much overall.
