Nvidia's upcoming wave of Hybrid SLI-supporting chipsets, part of the MCP7A family is said to also see to the arrival of a new SLI-only solution for Core 2 processors. The MCP7A-SLI-D is a new chipset that lacks integrated graphics, something found on all other MCP7A parts, but features support for dual x8 SLI configurations.

Likely to arrive before the end of summer, MCP7A-SLI-D-based solutions should be some of the cheapest SLI-ready boards available for Intel platforms. They will have support for 65 and 45nm Core 2 Duo/Quad/Extreme CPUs, DDR2 memory, integrated audio, 6 SATA 3.0 Gbps connectors and Gigabit Ethernet. Wait for it...
