As promised a
few months ago Fujitsu has now begun to deliver the first "zero watt" LCD monitors which will not consume any power while in standby mode. Part of the SCENICVIEW Premium Line ECO line-up, the new LCDs utilize one of Fujitsu's patented power saving technologies which talks about the use of a switching element in the monitor's power supply. That switch is controlled by the PC and will completely disconnect the LCD from the power source so it won't consume any power when in standby.
The first zero watt LCD screens from Fujitsu are the 20-inch P20W-5 ECO and 22-inch P22W-5 ECO, both of them featuring DisplayView AutoBright functionality for automatic brightness control, a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels, a response time of 5 ms and HDMI connectivity. Now available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) countries, the SCENICVIEW ECO LCDs start off at 419 Euro, this being the price tag of the 20-inch model. As soon as next month 24- and 26-inch LCDs will also be reaching stores.
