By the looks of it, AMD won't be able to steal some spotlight time from Intel in Q4 since it won't release any 45nm Phenom X4s (codename Deneb) this year but that won't keep it from updating its CPU offer. Even before Intel's Bloomfield processors will hit the stores AMD is going to release its highest-end triple-core Phenom yet, the Phenom X3 8850.
The new 65nm AM2+ CPU will be clocked at 2.5 GHz, and have a TDP of 95W and 2MB of shared L3 cache. About two months following the Phenom X3 8850's introduction AMD will let loose the Black Edition version of the CPU, its first BE-branded triple-core which, of course, will have an unlocked multiplier. The X3 8850's price tag is currently unknown.
