Toshiba has just started bragging with its latest storage achievement and that's to manufacture a double-patter 1.8-inch hard drive with a storage capacity of 240GB. Set to be used within portable media players, camcorders and mobile PCs, the highest-density 1.8-inch drive is codenamed MK2431GAH measures 54 (W) x 71 (D) x 8 mm (H), features a PATA interface and works at 4200 RPM (rotations per minute).

In addition, Toshiba has also unveiled the 120GB MK1231GAL and 80GB MK8031GAL 1.8-inch drives which boast just one platter each and have specs similar to that of the 240GB "big boy."

According to Toshiba, the 120GB model has already entered mass production while the 80 and 240GB drives are set to do the same at the end of this month.
