
The Xonar family of sound cards has picked up some speed recently and so its creator, Asus is preparing the launch of new models including the one pictured below. Named Xonar Essence, the card has a PCI-Express x1 interface, requires additional power (see the MOLEX connector) and features gold plated inputs and outputs.
The high-end Essence is also equipped with an EMI shield and it brags with a SNR (signal to noise ratio) of 124dB. Asus hasn't announced a release date for the Xonar Essence, nor did it say how much the card will cost.
