After a little vacation far from its dusty back alleys we're back to the city of Rumorville and its citizens are already bombarding us with various reports. One of them suggests that the well-known friend of the fabless, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing aka TSMC has been talking with Temasek Holdings about acquiring the latter's 60% stake in rival chip manufacturer Chartered Semiconductor.

Currently, TSMC and Temasek haven't commented on the rumor but, given the current down run of the world's economies, Chartered has previously said that it is open to an investment from practically anyone willing to digg deep into their pockets. If TSMC will be that investor it remains to be seen.
