Introduced in November with the debut of the Chrome 530 GT, S3 Graphics' Chrome 500 series of graphics cards has been stealthy updated with a new model, the Chrome 540 GTX. Featuring a 64bit memory interface, the new card makes use of a full-size PCB, as opposed to the low-profile PCBs of other Chrome models, and has 256MB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 800 MHz and an active cooler covering the 800 MHz GPU.

The Chrome 540 GTX has DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 3.0 support, a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 connection interface, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors, the ChromotionHD 2.0 programmable video engine and, for a limited time, is bundled with interVideo's WinDVD 8. Found in stock at the GStore, the Chrome 540 GTX is priced at $69.95.
