Hours after
announcing a $7 billion investment in 32nm-capable fabs, Intel, at an analyst event, showcased two systems running 32nm Westmere family processors. The demo included prototype desktop and mobile CPUs, codename Clarkdale and Arrandale, which are expected to enter production in Q4 and become available for the upcoming holiday season.
Compatible with Intel 5 series chipset, Clarkdale and Arrandale feature a multi-die design and will have two cores, four threads, one graphics core and an integrated dual channel DDR3 memory controller. The actual CPU die will be manufactured using 32nm technology while the graphics chip will be 45nm. Now bring on those Lynnfields.
