
While it still hasn't given its 128GB SSD a proper launch, famed memory maker Corsair is already closing in on releasing a 256GB drive. Seen below, the 2.5-inch S256, which will retail under the name of P256, has SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, Samsung MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash chips, a brand new Samsung controller and 64MB of cache memory.
An initial test with the upcoming SSD, made with HD Tach,
showed read and write speeds of 209 MB/s and 169 MB/s respectively. The Corsair P256 is expected to hit stores later this quarter with a price tag of about $749.
