Samsung UK has just announced the upcoming release of a new R-series laptop, the R720. Seen below, the portable PC packs a 17.3-inch LED backlit screen, an anti-bacterial full-sized keyboard, two 2W speakers backed by a subwoofer, and the Sound Retrieval System that enables a virtual 5.1 surround effect when using headphones.

The R720 will come pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium, boasts a Core 2 processor, a DVD writer or Blu-Ray drive, and discrete graphics, namely the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650. Samsung's new laptop is expected to debut next month with a base price tag of £599.
