Corsair's newest power supplies, the HX750W and HX850W were announced a month ago with the official claim that they meet the 80 Plus Silver standard for efficiency. As it turns out, that was an understatement as both PSUs have been tested and found to be worthy of a Gold rating. The Gold medal is awarded to units that have an efficiency of at least 87% at 20% and 100% load, and 90% at 50% load, and both the HX750W and HX850W were able to deliver that.
To be more specific, the HX750W scored 88.04%, 90.02% and 87.04% at 20, 50 and 100% load, while the HX850W reached 89.14%, 90.38%, and 87.06%. Both PSUs are ATX12V v2.3 and EPS12V 2.91 compliant, and feature 105ÂșC rated industrial grade capacitors, flat modular cables, a MTBF (mean time before failure) of 100,000 hours, a single 12V rail (62A max current) and a 140mm double ball-bearing temperature-controlled fan.
The HX750W and HX850W are priced at about 119 and 132 Euro, respectively.
