Showcased at Computex in early June, the Matrix series GeForce GTX 285 model is still not in stores but at least now Asus has provided more details about it. The new 55nm GT200-powered card features a black dual-slot 'extreme' cooler with a PWM fan, that provides 46.5% more heatpipe coverage and thus a 12% increase in heat dissipation capabilities, and includes the Super Hybrid Engine, a function that does automatic hardware load monitoring and adjustments, to offer a performance boost of up to a 14%.
The GTX 285 has a 512-bit memory interface, 240 Processing Cores, dual DVI connectivity, triple SLI support, and frequencies of 662, 1476, and 2484 MHz, for the GPU, shaders, and 1GB of GDDR3 memory, respectively, but can be clocked even higher with the iTracker2 tweaking software. We're still waiting for the price and retail release, Asus.
